Project: 10100 Katy Freeway

This 252,000 sq. ft. office structure is connected to a 633,782 sq. ft. parking garage. 10100 Katy is a LEED certified building that is currently being considered for a Silver LEED rating.
Camarata Masonry Systems, Ltd. (CMS) was responsible for the stone scope of the project including: shop drawings, engineering, supply and installation of 1,620 sq. ft. of 4 cm smooth finish Piel Clara limestone, 790 sq. ft. of 2 cm polished Bianco Dolomiti marble, 999 sq. ft. 2 cm honed Cenia Gray limestone, 511 sq. ft. of thermal finished 2 cm Cenia Gray limestone, 1,232 sq. ft. of 2 cm polished Crema Emperador marble, 1,641 sq. ft. of 2 cm polished Fantasy Brown marble, 67 sq. ft. of 2 cm RAW Bianco Carrara marble, and 342 sq. ft. of 2 cm polished Mesquite marble.
This project, while not enormous in size, has an attractive use of a very interesting selection of materials. As you approach the main entrance you are welcomed by the bold 90’ tall Piel Clara limestone column which happens to be the only stone cladding on the exterior of the project. The column accompanies you as you pass through the entry vestibule and into the main lobby, finally terminating as a 27’ tall accent feature on the east side of the lobby. The immediate elevations to the north and south are clad with Bianco Dolomiti marble in a very unique piece size. These stone panels are a slim 6” wide by 48” in height with a 12” offset in the horizontal jointing. Due to the tall and slender nature of the pieces special attention was required during installation to eliminate the possibility of bowing. The Dolomiti is highlighted with integral vertical bands of simple Bianco Carrara that enhance these elevations with its special “RAW” finish. The core walls of the lobby are clad with Fantasy Brown marble in a vein matched pattern as the walls wrap around the door openings and elevator fronts. Similarly impressive is the material selection for the stone paving. The thermal finished Cenia Gray limestone in the vestibule transitions into a border of polished Crema Emperador marble and a field of honed Cenia Gray limestone.
Mesquite marble was utilized for the lavatory tops in the restrooms. Due to the exotic and mottled appearance of the Mesquite marble, the tops and aprons were laid out on the slabs such that the aprons could be folded down to maintain the flow of the veining and colors. Likewise, the lavatory tops that were 11’ in length were fabricated from hand selected slabs that would allow for single piece fabrication in length. The tops were split in half for handling concerns, but the monolithic appearance of these 4-bowl tops was maintained with a tight center joint and folded apron. The end result is a visually stunning interior executed to the highest standards which will provide a durable installation for the owner and occupants.
